A moody child and wildly wise
Pursued the game with joyful eyes,
Which chose, like meteors, their way,
and rived the dark with private ray
They overleapt the horizon's edge,
Searched with Apollos privilege;
Through man, and woman, and sea, and star.
Saw the dancer of nature forward far,
Through worlds, and races, and terms, and times
Saw a musical order, and pairing rhymes.

Apple sauce

Apples Apples Apples

Todd's Grandparents have a couple of large apple trees that were loaded down with apples this year.  What would you do?  Pick'em and make apple sauce, so that is what we did.  We picked over three bushels of apples.  Knowing that we were going to need some help, we recruited some friends.  Matt works with Todd at the college, so we invited Matt, his wife Pamela, and their son Whitacre.

There were bites taken out of more than a few apples before we were done.  Emerson was enjoying the day.  All in all, we made 14 quarts of apple sauce before we were all too tired to peel anymore.  We used about half of the apples we picked.  The rest are in the fridge, apple pie, apple turnovers, apple bread, apple butter.  Please, feel free to send requests.

A day out with Thomas

Emerson sure did have fun the day we went to see Thomas.  It was a long drive to get there, but it was worth every minute.  Emerson was able to play with the train table (he would have been happy there all day), see some animals, and ride Thomas the train.  He even came home with a Thomas tattoo.  The ride was about 25 minutes long, there was lots of kiddie music, and he received a certificate commemorating his "Day out with Thomas".

Chaos

I am well aware that the state of my blog is not good.  It is in complete chaos.  I am trying to fix the problem.  I just do not have that much time.  I hope that I am now on the right track and I will now give you a short update.

I am now working at a daycare center.  I have a class of 12 four year olds.
Todd is between semesters and watching Emerson daily.
Emerson is growing like a weed and learning new things all the time.  He can now give the thumbs up.  We took him to see Thomas the Train a couple of weeks ago.  He loved it.  We even got to take a ride on the train.
The new one is doing well.  It is a girl.  We are still deciding on a name.
Denali and Loki are doing well.  Trying to stay out of Emerson's way.

That's all folks.

A hunting we will go.

Emerson went on his first Easter Egg hunt a couple of weeks ago.  He did really well.  He found about 10 eggs.  They were not filled with anything that interested him, but he liked playing with the eggs.

We recently took a trip to Chattanooga.  We took Emerson climbing.  I had to carry him into the woods for at least a mile.  By the time we got in there, I was too tired to climb.  We had a great time though.  It was so nice to be outside and doing something we love.  There are so many things that we did when we lived in Chattanooga that we never do anymore.  Mostly because they are not right in our backyard anymore.

We also went out to eat with some old friends.  We made reservations and when we got there, they would not let us in.  This restaurant chooses smokers over families.  It is a bar and grill, but they have a no smoking section.  They do not allow anyone under 21 to enter.  They said it is a law in Chattanooga now.  I haven't found any such law on the internet, I have been looking.  Talk about discrimination.  I was so angry.  It wasn't like I was taking my son to a bar.  It was 6:00 in the evening, I had no intentions of drinking anything more that a coke, and we had reservations for the non-smoking section.  Also, do I not have the right to make choices for my son.  If I want to take him into a restaurant filled with smoke, by God, I should be able to.  I was so furious.

All in all, our trip was a success.  We ended up going to a Mexican restaurant, who by the way also allows smoking, and the food was better than the other place would have been anyway.

Emerson got  to play with Nathan and Amanda's little boy.  Kiah is 10 months old.  They had a good time together.

Kiah's Birthday Party

On May 10th we drove to Chattanooga for our friends' babies first birthday party. Emerson had a great time. They had a baby pool and a slip and slide. Our other friend David was there with his twins. Daniel and Olivia played with Emerson in the baby pool. I think Emerson really liked having kids his size to play with.

Getting ready for more.

Chugga Chugga Choo Choo

Well, I have resurfaced.  It has been a long time.

Emerson has recently found a love for trains.  Choo Choo is his favorite word.  That and he likes to quack like a duck.  Todd and I took Emerson to see this train caboose.  It is parked in Clemson University's botanical garden.
